Great exercises to burn fat, tone muscles and get fit
Regular exercise is key to maintain a good heart health and general well-being, plus it comes with added benefits such as having more energy, being less stressed out and even have a better skin.
These are some great and fun ways to exercise your body, they all burn calories and help you develop your muscles and keep the body fat under control, all of which is what creates the toned, firm and healthy body you may be hoping for.
Tennis is great for your arms, as the forehand swing is good for your chest and the backhand for your shoulders. Plus it has another advantage: since it’s an aerobic exercise you can burn lots of calories along with fat, and remember that less fat gets your muscles noticed.
Swimming laps is good for your upper body, as pulling against the water provides resistance for your arms. The freestyle, back stroke, or butterfly uses the deltoid in your shoulders and pectoral muscles in your chest. If you want to make your legs work harder, try using a kickboard as part of your swimming routine.
Running and jogging are good for your calves and thighs, and it also helps to strengthen your bones because it is a weight-bearing exercise. This is a high-impact activity so it could be hard on your joints. Start off slow, especially if you’re overweight. It’s fine to switch between walking and jogging if needed, that’s easier on your joints and varying your pace makes for a good challenge.
Biking is great for your leg muscles: quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves. Using pedal clips adds extra resistance because it lets you pull the pedal up, besides just pushing it down. If you are not much of an outdoor biker, you can try challenging yourself on a stationary bike and adjusting the resistance.
Pilates and Yoga
These are popular total-body workouts that help strengthen your core (the area through your back and abdomen), as these muscles are needed for many activities. Some yoga poses can also strengthen your calves and other leg muscles.
This is the kinder, gentler cousin of running and jogging. It gives you many of the same benefits and also builds strength in the leg muscles and makes stronger bones. And it less stressful for your joints.
