Collagen P.I.N.

The Collagen P.I.N. is a closed system that introduces tiny sterile needles into the skin stimulating the release of natural, endogenous growth factors that build new collagen. It is a revolutionary way to resurface the skin with no downtime and low risk of pigment changes.

How the P.I.N. Works

The P.I.N. procedure is a non-surgical skin resurfacing procedure. It is not a laser treatment. The micro needling device glides across your skin. During the three gliding passes, the needles create tiny holes in the skin without damaging the epidermis, the outer layer of your skin.

The procedure creates a controlled injury underneath the surface of the skin. The tiny holes produced by the rotating needles cause your skin to release growth factors, produce collagen and elastin, and turnover at a faster rate of growth. The result is a reduction in wrinkles, sun damage, and pigment problems, such as melasma. The Collagen P.I.N. also improves the appearance of acne scars, surgical and traumatic scars and stretch marks.

Benefits of the P.I.N. Process

There are many benefits to be gained by investing in a series Collagen P.I.N. treatments for your skin. Particularly desirable is the reduction of wrinkles, scars, sun and pigment damage with little to no downtime. It is also a very versatile procedure. Micro needling can be used on the face, neck, decollete, arms, hands, knees and anywhere on the body with wrinkles, scars or stretch marks.

Unlike other micro-needling devices or rollers, the Collagen P.I.N. device has 36 needles in a “closed and sterile system” that cannot be contaminated. Other micro-needling devices on the market have only 20 to 24. It has greater impact on the skin by creating more pixels of micro-injury resulting in a more comprehensive healing response and superior visual improvement. The closed system significantly reduces the risk of infection as well.

Many patients are plagued with pigment changes from the sun, injury or hormonal changes. Micro needling is far superior to lasers for this complex skin problem. In the past we recommended peels because melasma is aggravated by heat. However, the micro needling process is heat free and has a very low risk of changes in pigment. Micro needling is ideal for people with melasma and other pigment abnormalities like traumatic hyperpigmentation resulting from acne and beard bumps. Because there is no heat, there is little stimulation of melanocytes, pigment producing cells.

The procedure is great for people of all ethnicities who have problems with excess pigment secondary to trauma and or for whom lasers pose a greater risk. The treatment is absolutely ideal for patients with vitiligo as there is no light stimulation. Lasers and flash lamps (photofacial, IPL and BBL) are contraindicated for patients with vitiligo. The Collagen P.I.N. is also the resurfacing treatment of choice for anyone with a demanding professional and/or social schedule that does not allow “downtime.”

The Collagen P.I.N. also works for acne scars and stretch marks and can dramatically improve the appearance of the damaged skin over time. It is safe for all skin types.

The P.I.N. is Safer than Dermal Needling Rollers

The P.I.N. process causes much less damage to the epidermis than dermal rollers and stampers. Essentially, it is a way to stimulate new growth of the dermis without disruption of the epidermis.

Unlike some dermal rollers that are used in many med spas and salons, the P.I.N. Micro Needling process uses disposable needles for a sterile and safe procedure. There is no risk of being exposed to another patient’s cells, blood or DNA. The Collagen P.I.N. is a closed system.

What to Expect During Your Treatment

During your P.I.N. treatment, your provider will use a topical anesthetic. The laser expert will clean your face thoroughly and then micro-needle your skin. You might feel a little bit of tingling during the treatment but with application of a topical anesthetic, it is not painful.

After the treatment, you will be a little pink. You might feel tight or a little sunburned for a couple of hours. The appearance over the next 24 hours is like your skin after a day of skiing, a little red and dry. After 24 hours, your skin will feel tight and dry; the redness will have faded. Some patients experience a light bronzing of the skin if they have a lot of sun damage or do not regularly exfoliate. Your provider will give you post procedure instructions as well as skin care and product instructions.

There will be little to no swelling because unlike a laser treatment, there is no heat. You will see significant improvement in the texture, color, tone and pore size of your skin over the course of four to six treatments. This procedure is highly effective for all age groups and ethnicities for whom downtime is undesirable because of busy professional and social commitments. The purchase of a package of five treatments is highly recommended. The package price is discounted and includes products for home use.
