NEW WAYS TO GET RID OF ACNE SCARS

Alexis Parker, MD from Lasair Aesthetic Health in Denver says people with acne scars do NOT need to be discouraged anymore. There are now better ways to treat and even remove acne scars altogether. Dr. Parker uses a combination of laser treatments and fillers to repair and sometimes
eliminate scars.
“Acne scars are a terrible dilemma for many people. They worry about them throughout their lives. Acne scars can affect self esteem and social interaction, but I can tell you, there are better and better ways to treat them. Even some of the most minor scars can impact someone’s self
esteem,” Dr. Parker said.
Combination treatments have been shown to work better for acne scars because the problem itself is so complex. Dr. Parker uses a fractional CO2 Laser, Sublative radiofrequency, and Fraxel resurfacing as well as other photorejuvenating devices. In addition to the lasers, Dr. Parker uses fillers. Bellafill can fill out saucer or scooped acne scars. Bellafill works by building collagen in the areas of deficit. It is the perfect filler to use for this purpose as lasers can be used confidently over this filler. She also uses hyaluronic acid fillers when deemed appropriate.
Every patient is different and the approach must fit their unique needs.

FRACTIONAL CO2 LASER

Dr. Parker uses the CO2 laser to target the ice pick scars. She has had extremely positive results with this technique. The laser used for acne scars is a versatile fractional CO2 system that targets and effectively treats the skin’s surface, middle, and deep dermal levels. This laser resurfaces the skin in pixels to eliminate scars, wrinkles, and skin laxity.

SUBLATIVE RADIOFREQUENCY

Sublative is the only technology proven to reduce moderate to severe acne scars for all skin types. The Sublative™ RF applicator is designed to deliver radiofrequency energy to the skin in a fractional manner. The bi-polar radiofrequency goes directly into the skin in the form of multi-electrode pins that deliver the energy into the skin creating microscopic injury in the dermis that then repairs with normal collagen.

FRAXEL

When Fraxel came out in 2005, it was a revolutionary treatment. Doctors could finally remove acne scars and replace them with new skin by removing 19 to 26 percent of the damaged skin in pixels with each successive treatment. This fractional approach to resurfacing created a treatment with little downtime that was safe on most skin types. Dr. Parker uses this technology and adds other laser, radiofrequency and filler treatments to reduce acne scars.
If you have acne scars, surgical scars, or traumatic scars, Fraxel will remove the scar tissue, replacing it with healthy skin. In addition to acne scars, Fraxel also stimulates the production of new collagen, Fraxel is a laser technology that removes skin in microscopic pixels. They are not seen by the human eye. The tiny pixels heal within 1 to 2 days. Fraxel also treats fine lines and wrinkles. In medical studies five treatments have been shown to produce a 70% reduction in wrinkles and after three years a 35% reduction remains.

BELLAFILL

BellaFill® can fill out saucer or scooped out acne scars. It is a long lasting filler that can plump out acne scars. BellaFill® is an FDA approved, bovine collagen based microtechnology that provides immediate results and lasting improvement. The treatment adds volume and grows collagen. It provides corrective results that are proven to last five years and possibly longer. Once injected into the skin, the bovine collagen is gradually absorbed as the body grows its own natural collagen on the microspheres of PMMA. Unlike other fillers that provide short term correction, without stimulating the growth of your own collagen, BellaFill can provide long lasting and gradual correction that will last for years to come. It is safe to use resurfacing devices over Bellafill.
