Stretch Mark Removal
Stretch marks or striae, develop when the skin is excessively stretched to its limits causing tiny tears in the elastic, or dermis skin layer. Dermal collagen is damaged and blood vessel damage results in red or purple-colored marks.
Common areas of stretch marks include abdomen, hips, thighs, breasts, chest, upper arms and back. 90% of pregnant women get stretch marks. Excessive sudden growth or weight gain can also cause stretch marks.
A variety of treatments have been tried on stretch marks. Effectivene ss depends on the treatment, severity, age and how long the patient has had stretch marks.
At Lasair, stretch marks can be treated with microdermabrasion, peels, Fraxel lasers and skincare products.
The Fraxel laser have proven to be effective treatments for stretch marks. Using its pixellation process, Fraxel can remove as much as 50% of the damaged skin in small columns or pixels. The pixellated area generates new collagen that bonds to the existing skin tissue to generate new smooth skin, thus reducing stretch marks. When combined with other techniques and Alexis MD skincare products, these treatments can be highly effective.
