The common belief out there is that what you do for a living is something you have to do instead of something you want to do, hence giving birth to all sorts of work-related bad choices, cultural habits and even jokes about bosses and having to work in general.

1) Don’t Compare Yourself
If you are constantly comparing yourself to feel good and accomplished, then you are not the master of your own happiness. Even though is really hard to turn off your reactions to what people may think of you, it’s not necessary to compare yourself to others. No matter what they are thinking or doing, your self-worth comes from within and what you think of yourself is the only thing that matters.
2) Choose Your Battles Wisely
Emotionally intelligent people know how important it is to manage your emotions and know how to respond to them accordingly, instead of digging your heels in the ground and fighting an unnecessary battle that will only leave you frustrated and unhappy for a long time. If you can do this, then you’ll be able to stand your ground when the time is right.
3) Stay True to Yourself
Crossing moral boundaries for the sake of success is the path to unhappiness! Violating your personal standards creates feelings of regret, dissatisfaction, and demotivation. So learn when to stand your ground and speak out when you are asked to do something you know is not right. If necessary, take some time to review your values, they will help you find your moral compass once more.
4) Clear the Clutter
You should create a working space that’s soothing and uplifting. It’s good to display a family picture, an award that you’re proud or to have a small plant on your desk; but get rid of the junk and clutter that is no longer valuable, useful or necessary to do your job.
5) Exercise Throughout the Week
A University of Bristol study showed that people who exercised on workdays reported improvements in time management, mood, and performance. But the benefits of exercise go beyond the productivity at the workplace, as it also helps your looks and of course your health!
6) You Are in Charge of Your Own Happiness
Last but not least, your happiness is up to you and no one else. You have 2 choices if you are not happy with your job: find another one or make the most of the one you currently have.
